RADIESSE® – WHAT IS IT?
Radiesse® is an injectable implant, whose principal component is synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa), suspended in a gel of carboxymethylcellulosea. Ratio is 30% CaHa to 70% carrier gel.
The microspheres of CaHa are similar to naturally occurring minerals found in bones and teeth. They naturally break down into ions of phosphate and calcium and are subsequently metabolized by the body. There is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
→ Over time, the gel is absorbed and fibroblasts appear, stimulating the production of new collagen in the patient.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A RADIESSE® WORKSHOP?
The duration of a session will depend on the area to be treated. On average it will take 20-30 minutes.
Once the skin has been cleaned and any make-up removed, the doctor injects Radiesse® into the skin; the injection is virtually painless as the product also contains the local anesthetic lidocaine, designed to increase the level of comfort for the patient.
Radiesse® smoothes out signs of aging and instantly restores volume to the face or hands. Once injected, it acts as a support under the skin, stimulating and creating a structure in places where collagen can grow.
There may be some slight swelling, a few bruises or a numb sensation over a few days after a Radiesse® injection. However, normal activities can be resumed straight away.
Results can be seen instantly. The Radiesse injection lasts between 10 and 14 months. It smooths deep wrinkles and reshapes skin folds in order to give an overall firmer appearance of the face.
